Home Improvement

IATWF Home Improvement Program (HIP) is designed to help veterans thrive by creating safer, functional home environments to meet their unique needs and support their independence. This will be accomplished through the provision of home maintenance, repairs, improvements, and adaptive modifications to our veterans in the Tri-State area. The HIP will offer interior or exterior repairs and structural improvements, along with adaptive modifications such as ramps, widened doorways, and handrails. Basic landscaping services will be available also for veterans who are unable to work on the exterior of their homes.

Application Procedures

  1. VETERAN must be a MEMBER of IATW Foundation BEFORE they can fill out the Home Improvement Application.
  2. After the VETERAN becomes a MEMBER, they must download the application below and complete application.
  3. VETERAN must follow and provide all documents listed on the application.
  4. Once the application is completed, the VETERAN must get 2-­‐3 estimates from outside contractors.
  5. Once the estimates have been found, the VETERAN must send ALL documents noted on the application, the application itself, and the 2-­‐3 estimates to the address provided on the application.
  6. Once your application is received, IATW Foundation will notify you via phone or email of your application being received.
  7. Please allow 2-­‐3 weeks for a decision as the Board of Directors meets once a month throughout the year.
  8. Please be aware the program has a limited budget and not all applications are guaranteed.
  9. IATW Foundation will contact the contractors once all of the documents are received.

Financial Grants

IATWF provides financial training and guidance that will lead them to be more economically responsible. IATWF offers financial assistance to pay third party mortgages, rent, and other needs. IATWF provides gift cards from a variety of retail outlets for the veteran and their families in a time of need. IATWF offers post-secondary educational scholarship opportunities for both the veteran and their dependents.

FINANCIAL GRANT PROGRAM

The Financial Grant Program (FGP) helps our veterans with any critical financial needs. IATWF pays directly to providers and/or third party organizations in reference to the veteran’s mortgage, rent, utility bills, or any other needs that will assist the veteran and their families. The goal is to alleviate the veteran with the stress and anxiety of overdue or existing financial problems and to assure long-term financial stability.

SCHOLARSHIP GRANT PROGRAM

The Scholarship Grant Program (SGP) is designed to assist dependents of veterans with a financial scholarship to a post-secondary educational institution.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TRAINING PROGRAM

The Financial Assistance Training Program (FATP) is designed to assist the veteran with a financial plan to make them more financially stable and responsible. Our financial planners and analysts will offer a blueprint for building a financial peace of mind.

GRANT APPLICATION

IATWF does NOT give out cash grants to individuals. ALL grants would be paid to the veterans THIRD PARTY designation for payment.
GRANTS are available at $1000 or less at this time.

Application Process

Please REGISTER AS A TEAM member BEFORE you fill out the application in its entirety. Incomplete applications can’t be processed which may cause a delay in the review process. ALL applicants are required to submit DDForm 214 (Military Separation Document) with application in order to be considered for a grant. Applicants must also provide proper documents from third party recipients.
IATW Foundation Board of Directors meets frequently. You will receive an email when your application is received and processed.
IATW Foundation grants range in size based on funds available once your application is processed. Each eligible application will be reviewed and assessed by the Board of Directors. Grant assistance will be decided by Board of Directors vote. Please allow 10-14 days for a decision on your application.

Your application must be complete before the Board is able to review

The IATWF will consider the following types for assistance:

  • Utility bills
  • Housing assistance (rent, mortgage)
  • Funeral expenses
  • Educational assistance
  • Medical fees
  • Miscellaneous (circumstances)

    By IATWF providing support from various resources we believe the veterans will overcome the challenges of post war trauma. Through various interactive and informational seminars, clinics and programs we believe our veterans will make the adjustment back into their communities much easier.
    With tthe assistance from our professional staff of volunteers, with Dr. Sasha Mondragon leading the way, we will provide the veteran and any family members with professional therapy to get them through the tough times and the adjustment back to civilian life.


    Dr. Sasha Mondragon, Ph.D.

    Sasha Mondragon was raised in Wyoming and received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2006. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2012 at Brigham Young University. She enjoyed working with Veterans at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas and hopes to continue to work with Veterans throughout her career. During her postdoctoral fellowship at the VA she received focused training in trauma/PTSD and anxiety. She is happy to have recently relocated to Pennsylvania and to be working with Veterans again through IATW! Dr. Mondragon is a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania (License # PS017538).

    Outreach

    Through our indoor and outdoor sports events at various venues and our health and wellness programs we believe our veterans will achieve their goals of a better mind, body and spirit. This will result in a successful and enriched life for the veteran and their families.

    SPORTS PROGRAMS

    Sports allow the veteran with cognitive and/or physical injuries to engage themselves in activities that will alleviate stress and anxiety they might have with or without visible injuries. Our sports programs will assist the veteran in building their confidence, self-esteem and leaderships abilities they once had.

    HUNTING & OUTDOOR PROGRAMS

    Through our hunting, fishing and camping adventures we will help our veterans with building camaraderie and confidence with what the great outdoors has to offer. With our sponsors, outfitters and guided hunts, this is sure to be something special in the lives of our veterans.

    HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMS

    Our Health and Wellness Program (HWP) focuses on educating our veterans with a healthy lifestyle by learning nutritional and wellness ideas. We will build a plan and set goals for the veteran with our partners to ensure they improve their lives and live a healthy life.
